Maybe such beautiful combinations of the most lucky Chinese number included in all day, month and year will never occur again in a lifetime. What's most important is that I get to witness the event which in my opinion, is where friendship, goodwill, and humanity are at its greatest heights. Where people who use the event to try to humiliate, belittle, or sabotage the reputation of the host country based on malevolent political or incredibly selfish reasons are despised and should be thrown hard together where they can fight each other to death to their heart's contents.
I've been awake since 5 30, an amazing feat since a long long time. Feeling a mixture of dizziness from lack of sleep and excitement for the 888 mission - a contest held to spot and reward 8tv viewers on this prosperous day, our team of 3 females slaves away by rushing to 5 different spots at Old Klang Road to grab 50 people to join. During the contest, I was amazed by what "fans" can do (cultural studies come into play. We had a guy who waited for us since 8 at our first location (we reached at close to 9) with his own tie and hat design with our logo. Another girl clad in all pink insisted on performing her hard-learned dancing+fan cheer routine and show us her 8tv creations. An auntie printed out all the logos she can find and paste it all over her shirt. Of course, there are also ill-spirited people who choose to show their crankiness by dissing our company.
I enjoy interacting with the crowd the most. Maybe I should do sales. Harharhar.
The up side of the event:
1. Given responsibility to liase with management services for reservation of parking space, booking of venue, lighting and issuing floor plan and memo
2. Approach people of all kinds at event and getting amused and amazed - some loyal fans actually waited 2 hours before we even reach there, and perform/show us their laborious creations such as dancing, sworn statement of love, homemade outfits ...
3. Gained experience similar to selling skills, because it is hard to get peoples' attention when they are sceptical about the competition - "too good to be true"
Downside of event:
1. It's my second event after the first Hot Shot screening and I have to believe that there are always bound to be some technical difficulties which could threaten to kill your event and reputation. Always causes unnecessary extra adrenaline rush and stress, but keeping cool under pressure helps tremendously. Help from everywhere in all forms help too.
2. There are always unwanted help too aside from the ones mentioned in no1. A good whack and slap on the faces on some people should help get rid of their bossiness, arrogance, and stubbornness. Aboslutely does not help with efficiency of event.
3. Some fans can get scary. Of course, not as scary as those die hard fans who stalk you till you go home, but close enough. Such as pestering us with endless repetitive questions...trailing us by car...
4. Seriously, some people with no manners should be kicked hard in the groins to get rid of their haughtiness.
By the time i reached home, it was already near 9 and i've missed the first half of the ceremony. ALL's fine cuz I watched the most important part - lighting ceremony after fighting hard to stay awake with my parents.
My heart had been pining hard for the Olympics opening ceremony at Beijing because of:
1. Immense pride as an overseas Chinese
2. China, Asia's pride to host Summer Olympics for the first time
3. Art director of opening ceremony is the highly-acclaimed director Zhang Yi Mou
4. Performers include my angelic songstress = Sarah Brightman
5. To see how the Olympic venues which have out-of-this-world architecture look like when used officially
6. Results after four laborious years and thousands of human resources
7. The secret of the biggest climax revealed besides the countdown of the beginning - lighting ceremony
Let the GAMES and HUMANITY BEGIN!!
