Dancinggg...with nobody watching^-^ yea free to do whatever wild movements, and whether i look funny or not i could care less about that. It is the movement, the sweat , the sensual feeling, the coordination of your memory with your body, the emotional connection of your physical and spiritual soul...i can go on and on with all these statements made infamous by numberous artistic choreographers, dancers but only when i'm Into it, will i feel its intensity.
I had stopped learning ballet since 12 cuz...well, embarassing to say a lump jutted out and it didnt look very good in my tight leotard. Plus i was dancing with a bunch of kids who were a head shorter than me but oh well, i got a D for grade 2, that was Some accomplishment hahaha! THen i had conjured up visions of excelling in modern ballet, which in my definition is the flailing of limbs in whatever way i wan and tossing my head and that (in truth, of course it is beyond that) of jazz, and really got the urge to learn tap dancing. The fast movements of the light feet, the rhythm all get my mind stimulated. However, blah, with my studies, busy schedule, outings, or most importantly, the laziness and money, so no going to dance classes after my ancient ballet history.
I looked for alternatives. I bought Paula Abdul's aerobic dance and for goodness sake, she is performing professional aerobic steps which i and my sister got so frustrated in just trying to get the precise movements. "Yea Keep it up! One two three four.." Easy for you to say when we kept stumble and halted and paused. So out was aerobics on tape and in was yoga. Yoga is meant to strengthen your lines and a great way to refine your shape, plus, it is supposed to be Really healthy. So me and my sister, full of eagerness, looked at the intro, marvelled at the instructor, and managed to scrape through the first section before slumbering. It is just.so.slow. Guess when we are used to being impatient in doing something, we are not able to relax fully and take our time in stretching. So...another dvd collecting dust.
Then i saw It. Bellydancing. Cool...my mind was full of great flexible curvy looking abs and waist and the scent of seduction. It also says: For R&B purpose. GOOD. I'm holding ML's shuffling cd too, so what a big contrast. R&B scene vs Techno scene. Clubbing here i comeeeee...if i manage to get something learned.
My progress: Still haven't reach the 4th stage of belly dancing yet. It is so snake like too bad i'm so twig like. But i have to admit it's a great workout for lazybums like me who hadn't been sweating in the healthy way for quite sometime. Looks like i'm not the only one caught up in my own obsession, i caught the Taiwanese women topics talk show (very hilarious always and informative too) that they are learning belly dancing for today's episode. I'm so pooped just after 1 hour of twisting and turning. Cannot underestimate the physical strength of belly dancing at all. See whether i'm really going to lose some fat in that lump.
